TopCashback details

TopCashback is the UK's largest cashback site, with more than 25 million members globally. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Stafford, they connect shoppers with over 6,000 retailers, including ASOS, Boots, Currys, eBay, Just Eat, and most major UK supermarkets.

They've built their reputation on consistently competitive rates and a guarantee to match and beat any higher cashback rate by 1% if you find one at another UK cash-paying cashback site (claim within 14 days of cashback tracking, with proof; conditions apply).

If you shop online at all, TopCashback is hard to argue against. Power users who install the browser extension and check the site before every purchase can earn around £300 a year without changing what they buy. That's TopCashback's own published average for members shopping at least three times a month.

The One-Off Cashback section, which pays fixed amounts on financial products like bank accounts, broadband, insurance, and SIM-only deals, is particularly valuable if you're already opening new accounts to grab sign-up bonuses. You can stack TopCashback's payment on top of those bonuses.

It's less compelling for occasional shoppers who only buy from a handful of brands, especially if those brands aren't well covered by the network.

Is TopCashback safe?

Yes, TopCashback is safe. They've operated in the UK since 2005, paying out to millions of UK members through an affiliate-commission model. Topcashback Limited (Companies House number 05336020) is registered at Temeraire House in Stafford, alongside the related company Topcashback Group Limited (08210663). Both have filed accounts every year since incorporation, which is the basic check for any service you're handing personal details to.

TopCashback is also an FCA Appointed Representative (FRN 476080) of XACT Risk Solutions Ltd (FRN 590914), authorised for credit broking. That covers credit-related introductions on the site (credit cards, loans, mortgages). Their core cashback activity doesn't itself need FCA authorisation.

Your cashback balance isn't FSCS-protected. It sits in your account as an IOU until you withdraw it to your bank, PayPal, or a gift card. Day to day, you're trusting their tracking, their dispute process, and a two-decade track record.

Who is TopCashback for?

TopCashback is ideal for anyone who shops online. With 6,000+ retailers, chances are your favourite shops are on there.

The One-Off Cashback section is particularly valuable if you're opening new bank accounts, switching broadband, or taking out insurance - you can often stack TopCashback's cashback with other sign-up bonuses. Power users who install the browser extension and check TopCashback before every purchase can easily earn hundreds of pounds a year.

Pros and Cons

What stands out

4 pros
  • UK's largest cashback site, with over 6,000 retailers covered
  • Often beats competitors on rates, backed by a Match guarantee
  • Excellent fixed-amount payouts on financial products like bank accounts, broadband, and insurance
  • No minimum withdrawal, plus a free Cashback Reminder browser extension that automates activation

Worth knowing

3 cons
  • Cashback typically takes weeks (sometimes months) to become payable after it tracks

  • Missing or declined cashback claims can take 1 to 3 months to resolve, and not every claim is recovered

Is TopCashback worth it?

Chris · Co-founder, Quidsy

TopCashback is the cashback site I use most, and the one I'd recommend to a friend who's only going to install one. With over 6,000 retailers and a Match guarantee, they're the first place I check before any online purchase over a tenner. The £10 sign-up bonus is genuinely easy to earn. Shop normally through TopCashback's links, accumulate £10 in confirmed cashback, and the bonus lands in your account.

Worth knowing: some merchants are excluded from the referral threshold, and bonuses or new-member-only offers don't count toward the £10. Check the live exclusion list in TopCashback's referral terms if you're planning to use a specific One-Off Cashback offer to qualify.

Is it worth using? For me, yes, but the value compounds with habit. Install the browser extension, let it nudge you on partner sites, and over a year you'll likely land around TopCashback's £300 average (based on members making at least three transactions a month). If you only buy from one or two brands online, the savings are smaller and the wait for cashback to confirm can feel slow. Treat it as a passive top-up, not a primary income stream.

TopCashback FAQs

TopCashback earns affiliate commission from retailers when members shop through its links. They offer two membership tiers: Classic (free) and Plus (£5/year, deducted from earnings). Plus members get a higher payout bonus through the Reward Wallet (up to 25% versus up to 12.5% for Classic) and earn around 16% more cashback on average. TopCashback funds the free Classic tier through a share of the commission, on-site advertising, partnerships, and the Plus annual fee.
New members earn £10 added to their TopCashback account once they reach £10 in confirmed cashback through normal shopping or One-Off Cashback. The bonus is paid via the Tell-a-Friend / referral programme, so you need to sign up through a referral link (Quidsy's link counts). Bonuses, new-member-only offers, and a list of excluded retailers (which TopCashback updates from time to time) don't count toward the £10. Both you and the friend who referred you receive the bonus when the threshold is hit. As of May 2026, the qualifying threshold is £10 in confirmed cashback.
Most online cashback tracks in your TopCashback account within 7 days of the purchase, though some retailers can take longer. Once tracked, cashback shows as Pending, then moves to Confirmed when the retailer verifies the sale, and finally to Payable when TopCashback has received the commission and processed it (typically 1 to 3 months on average, depending on the retailer). Travel and finance products often take longest because the retailer waits out their guarantee or cooling-off window.
You can lodge a Missing Cashback Claim from your TopCashback account. The most common reasons for a decline are using a discount code from outside TopCashback, returning items, or the click being attributed to a different source (a coupon site, search engine, or another cashback site). TopCashback investigates with the retailer, and most claims resolve within 1 to 3 months. If the retailer has already paid the commission elsewhere, TopCashback usually can't recover it, so prevention beats appeals: clear cookies, click through TopCashback last, and complete the purchase in one session.
